David (Dave) Schlitter and his wife, Kelly, founded Maker Pipe because Dave, who comes from a professional background in manufacturing, could see there was a need for an industrial building system that could be used to make home projects at a reasonable price. Together, the Schlitters initiated a Kickstarter campaign that raised $87,000, and Maker Pipe was born.
The only tools you will need for any of these projects are a tape measure, pipe cutter and an Allen wrench. Once you have these few tools gathered, you are ready to begin!

Spring and summer are always a perfect time of year to breathe a little fresh air into your home decor. After all, the kids are going to be at home for summer, the pace of life is a little more relaxed, parties and gatherings are more frequent, and longer days mean plenty of time to scout, travel and get inspired.
If you’re not exactly sure what would liven up your home and you need a few pointers, Atlanta-based interior designer Andre Hilton of Jordan-Hilton Interiors is here to help. Originally from Galveston, Texas, and a graduate of the architecture program at Prairie View A&M University, Andre moved to Atlanta — a city he’d loved since visiting during a gospel choir competition — and explored other career avenues before settling on interior design.
Check out this month’s issue of Home Sweet Home Magazine to learn his pointers for decorating in 2022.

Large or small, a backyard is an extension of your living space. It’s a place that can be a source of stress if you’re always thinking about how to maintain it or an oasis where you can escape the hurried atmosphere of work and home obligations.
If your backyard is currently your home’s achilles heel, you don’t have to spend a lot of money to turn it into a place to relax, play lawn games, and grill with guests.
Since it’s not likely a reality show crew is going to show up to do the work for you, take the task into your own hands with a plan and a workable budget. While a complete overhaul could easily cost tens of thousands of dollars, there are countless updates you can do to improve the space for much, much less.
Check out this month’s issue of Home Sweet Home Magazine for 13 budget backyard makeover ideas.

Does everything you plant seem to just…die? Even if your thumb is nowhere near green, you don’t need to give up hope on having a home filled with beautiful houseplants.
It’s scientifically documented that houseplants are therapeutic and actually good for your health. Among many other benefits, having, caring for and even growing houseplants can improve the quality of air in your home, reduce your stress levels, boost immunity and productivity, and help you focus and concentrate.
That said, many people don’t bother with houseplants — either because they’re inexperienced and don’t know where to start or because they haven’t been successful at keeping plants alive in the past.
Check out this month’s issue of Home Sweet Home Magazine to learn about some low-maintenance plants (that are much easier to keep alive).

A recent trend in home décor that harkens back to elements of interior design popular in the 70s and 80s has become all the rage. Sometimes referred to as Grand Millennial, this style is fundamentally about a renewed appreciation for time-honored craftsmanship and a desire to promote sustainability.
It involves using upcycled antique, vintage or simply previously owned pieces that speak to the buyer’s personal aesthetic.

Because your home is inherently an intimate space, your interior design and home décor choices likely express your individual preferences, from color schemes and textures to the style of furnishings and personal touches that reveal the things you enjoy and value most.
When your family includes young children and “fur babies,” certain safety precautions must be taken to protect them from accidents or injury. Fortunately, you don’t have to sacrifice your style to make your home a safe place.
Check out this month’s issue of Home Sweet Home Magazine for tips to create a safe environment for children and pets without sacrificing the home design you’ve worked so hard to achieve.

Lifestyle changes to improve health and wellbeing continually top the list of the most common new year's pledges: 46 percent of people resolve to exercise more, 45 percent vow to improve their diets, and 44 percent determine this will be the year they finally lose unwanted extra pounds.
Of course, a much smaller percentage of those people — less than a third — actually accomplish their goals.
Losing and keeping off weight is an especially difficult resolution to accomplish. So what can you do to improve your odds of successfully meeting your weight loss objectives in the coming year?
Check out this month’s issue of Home Sweet Home Magazine to learn why decluttering your kitchen may be key to keeping your new year’s weight loss resolution.

Of course, February is the month of Valentine’s Day, celebrating romance, friendship, family and neighborly love.
But people sometimes forget that it’s also the month of kindness. February 17 is Random Acts of Kindness Day, but you can show kindness all month long to people you know as well as strangers, the community, animals and the planet. Even small acts of kindness and compassion can make a big difference.
While there are a lot of opportunities to get involved in your community, there are plenty of acts of kindness you can do without ever leaving your house.
Check out this month’s issue of Home Sweet Home Magazine for some ways to show kindness and spruce up your home at the same time.

For some, February marks the beginning of the end of winter, with spring just around the corner. But the days are still short, and the nights are long. It’s still time for sweaters and slippers, warm drinks by a warm fire, fresh-baked treats, and homemade soup.
It’s the season for cozy comfort.
Cottagecore style embraces this attitude of contentment. It’s about the pleasure that can be found in a slower, more relaxed, and more intentional pace of life. It’s about seeing the beauty in nature and times past. It’s about finding an appreciation for simple pleasure in a complicated world.

We manage to accumulate a lot of stuff over time — stuff handed down from relatives, stuff we think is too good of a deal to pass up, stuff we buy with good intentions but never actually use. In the end, we find ourselves surrounded with items we need to clean, maintain, store and put money into. Adopting a minimalist lifestyle is a solution to those obligations, but it requires a unique mindset that is not well publicized in our consumer-driven world.
Whether you’ve recently taken an interest in the minimalist movement or are actively working toward embracing this lifestyle, this month’s issue of Home Sweet Home Magazine has some pointers to help you figure out what steps to take next.
